HouseBroken

Let’s face it, from 2020 onward we all spent far too much time at home. The pandemic drove us home, whatever and wherever that might have been for people. We became “HouseBroken,” our homes became both sanctuary and prison. This is the weird dichotomy that we all experienced. We discovered new things about our respective abodes and ourselves; we over-cleaned, we under-cleaned, we worked out in the living room, we were safe, we felt scared, we cooked, we watched too much TV and we endured. It’s been a strange time, but from the strangeness comes this body of work. The work I have created for HouseBroken considers the notions of house/home –in all their mixed messages. Each of my sculptures and drawing riffs on the notions of houses, homes, family, loneliness, connection, security or escape. This body of work is a loose document of the pandemic years and also stands on its own over time as a visual musing about the nature of “home”. Using a wide range of mixed materials I have sought to channel my own experience into a visual experience that we all can tap into to. October 2021- January 2023
